How to Blur or Mosaic Sensitive Information in Screenshots

Before sharing a screenshot on social media, a support ticket, or a community post, you often need to hide personal information: names, email addresses, account numbers, phone numbers, license plates, or faces.

When You Need This

  • Sharing a bank statement but hiding the account number
  • Posting a delivery screenshot without showing the address
  • Filing a bug report with a screenshot that contains user data
  • Sharing a receipt but hiding personal details
  • Posting on social media without exposing bystanders' faces

How to Blur or Mosaic

  1. Open Mosaic / Blur.
  2. Upload your screenshot or photo.
  3. Choose Mosaic (pixelate) or Blur (gaussian blur).
  4. Drag on the image to select the area you want to censor.
  5. Add more regions if needed.
  6. Download the processed image.

Mosaic vs Blur

BlurSmooth, out-of-focusFaces, backgrounds

Mosaic is generally harder to reverse-engineer than blur, making it better for hiding text and numbers.

Tips

  • Cover the entire sensitive area with margin. A partially visible phone number is still readable.
  • For multiple sensitive areas, add separate regions for each.
  • Export as PNG if you want lossless quality, or JPG for smaller file size.

Privacy

The tool runs entirely in your browser. Your screenshot is never uploaded to any server, which is especially important when the image contains personal or financial information.
