Scanned documents frequently end up with pages rotated the wrong way. Phone scans, office copiers, and mixed-source documents are the most common causes. Instead of re-scanning, you can rotate the affected pages directly.
Common Scenarios
- Phone scan saved a page in landscape instead of portrait
- Duplex scanner flipped alternating pages
- A few pages in a long PDF are upside down
- Scanned receipts are sideways
How to Fix It
- Open Rotate PDF.
- Upload your PDF.
- Choose the rotation angle:
- 90° for pages that are sideways (rotated left)
- 270° for pages rotated the other way
- 180° for upside-down pages
- Choose which pages to rotate:
- All pages
- Odd pages only (useful for duplex scan issues)
- Even pages only
- Custom range (e.g., 3, 5-8)
- Download the corrected PDF.
Duplex Scan Fix
When a duplex scanner produces alternating orientations (page 1 correct, page 2 upside down, page 3 correct...), use the "Even pages only" option with 180° rotation. This fixes the pattern without touching the correctly-oriented pages.
After Rotating
- If the PDF also has extra or blank pages, clean them up with PDF Page Organizer.
- If you need to combine the corrected PDF with other files, use PDF Merge.
Quality
Rotation changes page metadata only. It does not rasterize or recompress the content, so there is no quality loss.
